When Irish Eyes WEREN'T Smiling

At the age of 19, (about 100 years ago), I was given my first opportunity to speak in front of a group of people. This opportunity was thrust upon me, as part of a Fire Service training course that I was undergoing, and as far as my instructors were concerned, was no big deal. For me however, they might as well have asked me to bungy-jump off the Empire State Building. I had never before, nor indeed since, felt such absolute terror. In my school days there was no such thing as Show and Tell, so I had never even stood in front of a group before, much less actually speak. The time I had been given to prepare for this wasnt much help either, I spent most of the previous night spewing and retching. Had anyone offered me a one-way ticket to Kabul, I would have gladly taken it.

I was determined to pass the course, however, having traveled all the way from Belfast to Birmingham to join the Fire Brigade. And if this was what the Fire Brigade wanted me to do, then so be it. My departure from sunny downtown Belfast had been only a week before and my accent was as broad as a milkmaids butt. So far I had learned to modify my vowels to some degree, so instead of saying meeyit for mate, I had learned the correct Birmingham pronunciation which is mite .

I have often heard the phrase Butterflies in the stomach, but these werent butterflies, these were hornets wearing hob-nail boots. So with knees really shaking, and stomach churning inside out, I stepped to the rostrum. I was about 20 words into my presentation when some wag at the back of the room shouted Speak English, will you.

I have re-lived this event a thousand times in my mind over the years, and I still cannot find the words to describe how totally devastated I felt. The little bit of confidence that I had managed to muster disappeared faster than a ferret down a rabbit hole, and I was left lost, stumbling and bumbling.

In all honesty, I dont remember a great deal about what actually happened, or how I even got back to my seat. I dont know if I finished the presentation, burst into tears or dropped my trousers and sang God Save the Queen. But in hindsight, I can now look back on it as one of the most potent and valuable lessons I have ever learned.

Some time later I joined the British Army, and underwent some of the finest training in the world, including a Methods Of Instruction course. When I became a Non-Commissioned Officer I also had to become a trainer, and I have since delivered hundreds of presentations to all sorts of audiences, military and civilian.

Have my hornets disappeared? No, not entirely. But as the years have passed they have metamorphosed into little furry beings wearing carpet slippers. I still like to have them around, like an old favourite sweater that I can take off once I warm up. They keep me motivated, they keep me sharp and they keep me always wanting to deliver my next presentation even more successfully.

Semi Formal Attires

Fashion has made semi formal attires luscious enough to make it a gate crasher for any event. It could be formal skirt or a pant teemed with a t-shirt or a cosy top that would make the entire attire semi-formal. So you can walk into office yet dress down.

This dress down policy is introduced in most MNCs and bigger Indian organizations that have embraced the fact that employees can get into something comfortable on weekends. It ushers in a casual atmosphere and employees are comfortable doing what they usually do.

Fashion designers and boutiques too have set up commercial houses to display the trends in semi formal attires. It is no more just a t-shirt and denim. Your choice could range from a short kurti, floral tops to casual tops with embroidery, or puff sleeves and completed by three fourth denims or pants in cotton and lycra. Straight fit denims, knee length floral umbrella cut skirts and more is on the table for you to pick and choose.

Semi formal attires have got a leg up from many ends and today it even walks on the fashion ramp. More and more designers are sketching this trend. Because it is something one would wear to work, an office party or a friends day out. It could be something as simple as a family get-together or just to chill out. Instead of going completely dressed down, today's generation prefers to go semi formal.

In fact the term has entered the bridal segment too. Some brides prefer to go semi formal in their d-day attires instead of going full frontal and carrying that heavy gown around. Even the relatives to a wedding can be seen wearing a semi-formal dress, if the invitation says so or if it is an outdoor do or a summer occasion.

Guide to Buying Swatch Watch Straps

First Things First: What strap will suit you?

Activities: Ask yourself, are you an active/sporty person, sweat a lot, need a flexible and tough watch band or do you need a watch which will complement your outfit?

How you use your swatch watch will determine what type of watch strap you should buy. Do not just buy straps based on the design and color but consider what, when and how you use your watch will be a crucial point in making that choice.

Secondly: What strap suit your watch?

This sounds like a silly question but it's really very important that your sporty watch don't get match with an elegant strap while your loud, color Swatch gets paired with a plain old leather strap.

Thirdly: Shall I buy the same strap I had been wearing before?

Yes, should you? You may go for this option almost immediately because it just seems right and logical to buy back the original strap (if you can find them) as it suits your watch well.

But you may prefer variety. Time for a change!

Another good reason for buying back the same strap is value. Consider someday you may want to sell off the Swatch watch. Do you know that having the original/same type of straps makes the value of your watch go up higher especially for potential collectors?

How many types of Swatch Watch Straps/Bands are there?

Basically, most of us think that there are three types of Swatch straps:

One: plastic
Two: leather
Three: Metal

Really? You would be surprised by the variety there is. Over at Squiggly website (a very good source for your swatch watches) there is a section for strap search.

Let's take an example of one tiny section labeled under Standard Gents.

Under this category you find 'standard' plastic straps

- 'standard' leather straps

- flex straps (elastic, metal straps. Comes in many colors and 2 sizes)

- flip lock strap (usually made of metal. Used mainly with Swatch Irony watches)

- elastic pop straps (only used for pop swatches)

- other straps

Woah. You may be thinking now "I should not have read this article it just confuses me more!" You maybe right there. Buying is most enjoyable relying on intuition and emotion rather than reason and rationality. However, if you find yourself in need or just curious and need more resources you can go to these sites (by no means comprehensive) below.

The Modern Citizen: Jeans In The Boardroom

Denim is one of the most viral fashion trends to hit us! Ostensibly an innocuous tendency, jeans have the ability to gradually take over your closet space virtually undetected, until its too late. Little did we know that one pair of True Religion jeans would multiply into multiple pairs of Citizens jeans, Seven for all mankind jeans, Hudson jeans, and even Frankie B. jeans. Just as denim has invaded each and every closet, denim takes over the soul. Why? Because designer jeans, with their slimming lines and sleek appearance, make us feel good!

Places that have not traditionally been denim friendly have been invaded. One theory is that price plays a huge part in bringing jeans into the boardroom. When your Citizens of humanity, True Religion jeans, and Seven for all mankind jeans have prices in the same range as your dress pants, youre bound to see a crossover. However, some brands are more boardroom friendly than others.

Clean dark washes tend to work the best when transforming a pair of jeans from casual to more formal wear. True Religion jeans in Bobby, and many of the more classic bodies of Citizens of humanity and Seven for all mankind jeans are quite adaptable when placed with the right top and accessories.

The versatility of denim almost certainly earns itself a permanent place in each and every one of our closets, and definitely an enduring presence in our fashion culture.

To shop for the brands in this article such as Citizens jeans or True Religion jeans, visit http://www.kultic.com.

The present day Nyonya Wedding, can be described as "trying our best" to relived some gaiety and splendor of the good old days. When my daughter Uvaraani (of mixed parentage) was preparing for her wedding, we had to consider many factors. Reason being she has the opportunity to unite many Indian and Chinese cultures and traditions for her big day. We went through the Indian and Nyonya Chinese ceremonial rites with our elders, and boy were we in for some surprises.

Consulting the Elders

It was a great experience talking to some older Nyonya aunts who still remembers the good old days. The smells that triggers the memory leads us to consider reviving this hundred year old Nyonya or Peranakan heritage. Mostly the discussion was aimed at what can and can't be done in this present age as Nyonya on the whole, the culture and people are a dying breed. Ceremonials rites for the bride is endless.

Words like Kor Char Ay Lang (olden days people) and Tong Kim Ay Gee Nia (kids nowadays) seems like we are moving from "one extreme to another".

Olden Days Brides

In the days of our grandparents, the young girls were protected and hardly knows the outside world. The only times they were allowed to go outside is on "Chap Goh Mei". (15th day and last of Chinese New Year is to throw oranges into the sea, in the hope to get good husband).

They are dressed in the prettiest and with an entourage of older brothers and chaperon of protective hawks of old aunts. You can imagine how excited they will be when there is a marriage proposal, young and excited and obedient to their parents instruction. There is no falling in love for fear of marrying into the wrong class or society. Nyonya families even imported brides from China or sent their daughters to China to find husbands.

Those days the Straits Settlement Nyonya girls of marriageable age were taught to sew and cook. Sewing and embroidering items for personal use. She has to practice till she gets it right to prepare for her wedding ceremonies. And believe you me, it is a long list. For her wedding, personal items like lacy handkerchiefs, wardrobe that include her wedding gown. Items for wedding bedroom sets like pillow cases, bed hangings and decorative panels used in the bridal chamber.

Skills to Acquire

The most important item she has to learn is beadwork, using "manek" (beads) and sequins, making shoes, sandals and slippers. All this is part of showcasing that the bride is well taught and well bred. The prospective bride prepared a range of slippers to be presented as part of her wedding dowry, to the groom and his family. Even Emelda Marcos would have lost out in her showing off her collection of beaded shoes. Then a special pair must be made to be worn on the third day of the wedding, that is the day she comes to her father house for the banquet prepared for the groom and his entourage.

Present Thoughts and possibilities

How would we ever get an opportunity to have a Nyonya wedding ceremony as the girls are now working girls. They hardly had time to sew their beaded shoes, embroidered bedcovers and pillow cases, let alone her own wedding costume. A young Nyonya's worth as a bride is judged by her skills in beading, embroidery and proper upbringing as a classy Nyonya lady.

How do I ask my daughter whether she is a virgin to do the "Chiau Tau" (wearing a traditional gown to pay homage to ancestors announcing the wedding). She would have thrown a fit if I asked her that. Such remark would be considered abusing her right while in the old days, the parents has every right to dominate their children.

Some rites and rituals of the Nyonya Wedding

It would take twelve days to get married with all the customs and traditions to follow. Grooming the bride for the wedding takes a few days. Nearing wedding days, all needlework, sewing and embroidery of personal items and whatever you need for the bridal chambers must be completed.

The challenge to grooming the bride coupled with wedding blues are at its peak. If you happened to get a bride who is excited about the whole wedding proposal, it seems a happy occasion. There are times you get an unwilling bride as she is forced to marry for the sake of broadening her family heirloom or kongsi (clans) business.

"Quotes from Queeny Chang - Memories of a Nonya, pg 69:

She took me to our father's room and from the closet, drew out a photograph of a young man in traditional Chinese clothes wearing a close fitting black hat. He had good features but his strange clothes did not appeal to me. Sister Song Jin unwrapped a red silk handkerchief containing a pair of gold bangles engraved with Chinese characters. Pointing to the photograph, she said:

Song Jin: This is the man you are going to marry and these bangles are the tokens of your betrothal. Our uncle arranged this marriage three years ago when you were only thirteen.

Queeny: Is it our father's wish that I marry this man?

Song Jin: Little sister, you know that once one's word is given, one can't take it back.

Queeny: But it isn't our father word.

Song Jin: Our father had to listen to his elder brother and beside, the family Lim had done a big favor for our uncle. We must therefore show gratitude."

The Match Maker

Before any rites or rituals can be followed, a Seng Keh Mg (Match maker, one with a gift of the gab) must be hired. She bosses all around to ensure all rites and rituals are followed, if not she will be able to tell you the consequences of not listening to her. With that, she advised what is to be done and you jolly well follow.

Things she would advised include fixing the dates for all ceremonies like Sang Jeek Sang Jeek is gifts presentation day or dowry to the bride. The Bridal Bed arrangement include chamber pot placement, ornaments and silk curtains, oil lamps or candles to keep lighted before the wedding night is over.

A tray of sweet goodies for the newly weds to eat and to get to know each other. Hair combing Ceremony, prayers to Jade Emperor, Chneoh Tau, (purification ritual for virgin), ancestors worship and eating Glutinous rice balls without chewing and Kooi Bin (Face Threading).

She is the master of ceremonies and her main role in Tea Ceremony is calling relatives from the older generation till the youngest. She is even there as the bride wakes up in the morning to carefully fold the pajamas.

Having listen to all the good advises from my Nyonya elders, we decided to pick what is necessary term as important and doable for present day working Nyonya wedding.

Present Day Wedding Plans and Realities

For the parents and relatives, my daughter chooses to have the tea ceremony conducted by Penang Nyonya Heritage Wedding Planner Micheal Cheah. Same time we choose a traditional hundred over years old heavy embroidered wedding gown for performing the tea ceremony.

Same time, not to disappoint the Indian relatives, we combined both Indian and Chinese Nyonya tradition into her wedding. The day ended as a lifetime experience for the newly weds, parents and relatives.

We were glad we could combined an age old heritage Nyonya wedding into unique modern day affair.

Pearly lives in Penang, Malaysia. As a born and bred Penangite, she knows by heart the Nyonya and Indian culture which is described in this article. She is also the writer of http://www.my-island-penang.com in which she describes the many different cultural aspects and events of Penang. Apart of that she has reserved a substantial part of the website to her personal history on heritage, historic and cultural enclave.

In my work with victims of narcissistic abuse I am more often than not asked the same question: "How do I know I'm not the Narcissist?"

When I asked my own therapist this question so many years ago she answered "If you were the narcissist you wouldn't be asking that question, because narcissist's won't see that the problem is with them." They are too busy projecting the issues onto those around them.

However our own narcissism is an issue worth exploring in more detail. For example: Why do we ask that question to begin with. What is it that makes us feel we are the narcissist?

In talking to a client today I had a big realization. She was telling me how she was always disappointed in her previous boyfriends or partners. They just didn't measure up to her expectations. As we dug a little deeper she explained how she has wavered between feelings of superiority and feelings of inferiority. She has built her own illusion or idea of who she was which in her own reality placed herself upon a pedestal. So in a sense she was doing the same thing a narcissistic personality would do. She sheltered herself from her feelings of inferiority by placing herself upon a pedestal. That pedestal created a false confidence.

So when the narcissistic personality comes into her life her false confidence is initially mirrored by the narcissist who reflects to her the image worthy of the pedestal she has placed herself upon. But as the relationship progresses her feelings of inferiority are triggered as he projects his own inferiority upon her. Now she is experiencing the feeling of having her mate disappointed in her inadequacy just as she has been disappointed in past partners for their inadequacy.

What is the difference than between the narcissistic partner and the one who feels abused? Compassion and Empathy! The client I was talking to today, identified with her partners feelings of superiority and also with his feelings of inadequacy. She had empathy for him. She didn't want to see him hurt because she knows how painful it is to experience those same kinds of feelings. A pathological narcissist could give a rip about his partners hurt feelings. He is only concerned with himself and his own needs.

The inverted narcissist, as Sam Vaknin calls it, is the perfect match for the pathological narcissist. Because when their false selves meet, the illusion of who they believe themselves to be is reinforced to a point where it may feel like Cinderella meeting her prince who takes her out of her hell hole, where she is made to wear rags and sweep ashes all day. Suddenly she is swept off her feet, she fits the glass slipper perfectly, and is carried off to the Castle adorned with beautiful gowns and riches fit for the queen she is.

Perhaps in this fairy tale, Cinderella always fantasized herself to be a queen, but she lived the reality of being an ash maiden. She was ridiculed and condemned by those around her and made to feel unworthy of the good things in life. But she would show them someday. She would show them she was really a queen.

For those of us who come from painful childhoods where we were somehow made to feel inferior, we can easily create fantasy worlds where we escape into never never land. We imagine ourselves as fairy princesses and imagine our prince riding up on a white horse and sweeping us off our feet, carrying us from our humble reality to a great castle where we are treated as a queen should be treated.

In the psychic realm the psychosis of the pathological narcissist is a great match for the fantasy world of the inverted narcissist. Because in the world of make believe a great fantasy is created where the King and the Queen of never never land get together and ride off into the sunset. It is such a beautiful love story, in the beginning.

But all glass slippers eventually break and so do the glass houses the "ideal" couple reside in. There love is not built on anything real, but rather an illusion of perfection created by both parties. She is saying "be my prince" and he is saying "be my queen." But once they settle into the Castle the true selves begin to emerge. The feelings of inferiority begin to surface. Both partners don't really want to be found out, less they risk losing their status upon that pedestal. "What if she finds out I'm really a frog?" He might think. And she might wonder "what if he knows the truth of me, that I'm only an ash sweeper?"

The narcissistic dance is really a dance of ego's. It is an escape from the true self. For the true self has never been discovered and cultivated. The narcissistic facade is a preservation of the ego that needs to appear larger than it is. From that wounded little child he inflates his lowly sense of self into something others would envy. He strives for greatness, not for the sake of the task but for revenge against those who would mock him for his inferiority.

We see this scenario played out often in the movies where the ugly geek grows into the beautiful swan or the handsome prince and is the envy of those who used to taunt him. But inside he may still feel like the ugly duckling. A true pathological narcissist is so clever at hiding from that ugly duckling within that he hides it from himself. He is no longer really aware of those feelings. He is cut off from them. Where his victim is likely very much in touch with those feelings. She feels the depth of the pain being triggered by his poor treatment and lack of consideration for her. It triggers all those feelings of unworthiness that she has been running from most of her life.

If the inverted narcissist doesn't grab this opportunity for self-reflection and personal growth she will likely just fall back into her old ways and re-create a similar scenario. But the opportunity is there for a great transformation. One that comes from truly embracing the self and becoming real! We peel away the layers of who we are not and cultivate the truth of who we are. This begins with embracing that little wounded child who has been rejected, taunted, teased and made to feel inferior in so many ways. We can begin by having compassion for that child within in the same way we found ourselves having compassion for the narcissist in our lives.

Once we own that rejected part of ourselves there is no longer a need to hide her from the world behind a fantasy illusion. We no longer need to be seen as "the queen" but are alright with just being ordinary. Ironically once we accept our ordinary-ness we actually do begin to stand out, for real. Because we stop trying to be something we are not and start accepting who we really are. Our true selves always carry the greatest light.

As I work with more and more victims of narcissistic abuse I begin to see Narcissism as the catalyst for personal transformation. The narcissistic abuse spirals us into our deepest, most fragile aspect of self, the wounded, rejected child within. I used to believe we were just taking on the projection of the narcissist, but I'm coming to realize this isn't true. This is the very part of the narcissist we identify with. He too has the same cast away, lost, rejected inner child, covered over by an illusion of grandiosity. So our work is not to simply stop taking on the projections of the narcissist in our lives, but rather allowing ourselves to make that decent into the deepest, darkest places within our psyche and rescuing that rejected child within.

Ironically once we accept our inadequacies, we no longer feel so inadequate. We come to understand that nobody is perfect, including us. We make mistakes, we have faults, we have areas where we are ashamed of ourselves, and now we simply admit these realizations to ourselves. Instead of taking the inventory of the narcissist in our lives we take our own inventory and list the areas where we have deceived ourselves. When we finally see that being imperfect is being real, we accept ourselves just the way we are and stop trying to be something we are not.

Becoming real is a process. I call it growing up. We peel away those layers of who we are not, in order to refine who we really are. And...we come to see ourselves as beautiful even with our flaws. In actuality it is our flaws that make us unique and beautiful. Perfection is the illusion!

We may be angry initially that we are cast into the deep pain of self reflection and personal growth while the narcissist is off in another fairy tale; but instead of envying him for his ignorance, we should instead thank him for the gift he has given us. He has brought us to our true selves. The pain of discovery may be great initially, but it is well worth the journey, because now we can truly live and we can truly love. Once we accept the imperfections in ourselves we can accept the imperfections of our future mates and have a much greater opportunity for real love.

Dearfoams Men's Penn State University Clog

Johnny couldnt believe it, but he actually felt nervous. Sahara, the love of his life was taking him to meet her father who was the leader of an ancient sect of Jewish mystics who practiced a religion called Kabala. It was a meeting of the old and the new, which would not go well for Sahara or Johnny. The setting was an old stone house surrounded by a high yellow limestone wall in the village of Ez in the South of France. Johnny felt like he had been taken back in time to medieval days. Sahara introduced them and was immediately interrupted by her father, who was dressed in a black velvet robe and faded grey slippers.

Rabbi Fabren, a short thin man with piercing blue eyes, said, Greetings young man, who are you to claim to be a prophet? What do you know? Have you studied the ancient texts and leaned the wisdom of our ways? What gives you the right to claim that you have divine guidance and a new religion to share with us? My daughter has told me about you.

Johnny was taken aback, but managed to mumble, I came here to discus my love for your daughter, not my Dialectic Rationalization of Materialism religion or my status as a prophet. What I know, I know from God, and His words of wisdom are more important than anything your old rituals can tell us.

Blasphemy, shouted the Rabbi. Kabala is the word and way of God. Who are you to question what you do not even understand? Who are you to question the true meaning of our ancient religion? I will never give you my blessing to marry my daughter. You are an infidel a non-believer. It is forbidden

With this Sahara started to cry. She turned to her father and took his hand and said, Please listen to my Johnny. I have heard his words of wisdom. They only add glory and wisdom to our religion. We can combine the old and the new to achieve Gods will. I believe this to be so. Please hear my Johnny out.

The old Rabbi seemed shocked at his daughters plea. He was used to total unquestioning obedience from his daughter. He started to tremble and said, All right, all right, I will listen. I am not to old to learn, but I will not hear anything that goes against the word of God as it was written in our ancient texts. I will not let this young upstart of yours denigrated centuries of true belief and worship.

And so began a discourse that went on and on through the night. The old fanatic and the young fanatic argued over everything of a religious nature that one could conceive of. The only thing the old Rabbi eventually agreed to was that Johnny could become engaged to his daughter if he studied the ancient texts of Kabala, and he insisted that if they were to marry it would be in a ceremony at which he himself officiated, and would include all the old religious rituals that he held so dear.

Johnny was exhausted and said, Whatever makes my Sahara happy. Thats okay with me. God will be my witness to the sanctity of this ceremony so I dont care what you do or say old man. You will see. You will see the hand of God bless my union with your daughter. I am a prophet and I know this to be true.

Dearfoams Men's Penn State University Slipper

Paris. Considered by many as the most beautiful city in the world, trying to condense the French capital into a list of '10 things to do' is one of life's impossibilities. So as to avoid insulting your intelligence, boring you, or writing the same article as every other online guide to Paris, the Eiffel Tower has been emitted from the list. Because, let's face it, we know you're going to visit the Eiffel Tower. You're in Paris; it's the law. But if you're stuck for a few other ideas, then try this list for starters.

1. The Louvre

Yes, it maybe just as cliched as the Eiffel Tower, but leaving it out would simply be unthinkable. Not only is The Louvre one of the world's finest palace's and a breathtaking example of French architecture, it also just happens to contain some of the world's finest artwork. Established in 1973, the Louvre represented to the public everything that was good about the French Revolution, and has been drawing in tourists and admirers ever since, with recent figures suggesting well over 5 million annual visitors. And with pieces such as Da Vinci's renowned Mona Lisa, it should come as no surprise. If you're in Paris for the week, although it may not be practical, the Louvre could probably entertain you for the full seven days. And if a week long art binge doesn't exactly constitute fun for you, visit for the day at least, even if it is only to re-enact your favourite scene from the Da Vinci Code, usually much to the embarrassment of the rest of your party.

2. La Promenade Plante

it is widely acknowledged that a trip to Paris does wonders for your calves, with extensive walking unavoidable. And 'La Promenade Plante' doesn't do much to prevent this. At 4.5km long, it is the world's only (and therefore longest) elevated park, and is perhaps the most imaginative and picturesque way of dealing with an unused railway line. The walkway is lined with flowers, and provides brilliant and often intrusive views into the local neighbourhood. And in true Parisian style, the arcades below were not left to be vandalised by graffiti writing hoods. No, they were transformed into arts and crafts workshops. A beautiful afternoon's entertainment for all.

3. La Grande Arche de La Defense

In stark contrast to the classic architecture of the Louvre is 'La Grande Arche', a 110m high homage to the French's heroic (yet failed) resistance of the Prussians in 1870. The structure consists of mainly concrete although is covered with marble and glass for an ultra-modern feel, and a glass elevator will take you straight to the top. From there, panoramic views of the city provide priceless photo opportunities of the distant Arc de Triomphe, the model for La Grande Arche's construction, and the Louvre itself, although those a little conscious of heights may find themselves quickly calming their nerves in the hotel bar. Best seen by night when the city is at its twinkling best, it's a dazzling way to spice up a day of navigating through the tight streets of the old city.

4. Sabbia Rosa

A city with a street dedicated to underwear shopping would usually be considered a little out of the ordinary, but we're talking about Paris here, where the unexpected is always on the menu. So if you find yourself on La Rue Des Saints P'res, then prepare to flash the plastic and overhaul your underwear draw completely. If there's one thing the most romantic city in the world does better than anywhere else, it's make knickers. And in madam Sabbia Rosa's, you have one of the best in the business. She was sewing lingerie before you were even thought of, so its no surprise she attracts customers such as Madonna and Kate Moss on a regular basis. But with that clientele, Madame Rosa can afford to set prices a little higher than the normal shop sale, so make sure you've got your chequebook before you start trying things on.

5. Cruise on the Seine

We've established that walking and Paris go hand in hand, but there is a slightly more luxurious (and lazy) way to see the city in its full glory. A cruise down the River Seine, often accompanied by a high quality meal and an equally high quality glass of wine, is a brilliant and unique way to admire the city's often stunning architecture. With views of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay and Notre Dame as well as the added bonus of not actually having to move very far, it all makes for a delightful evening's entertainment.

6. Arc de Triomphe

Situated at the top of the Champs-Elysees, you would do well to miss the Arc de Triomphe, perhaps Paris's most famous sight after the Eiffel Tower. This architectural masterpiece was built in recognition of the French's military victories during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods, the names of which are engraved across the Arch's summit. A small museum inside details the history and construction of the Arch, the biggest of its kind in the world, and also provides access to the top where the views of the city are worth the entry fee alone. Avoiding the Arch on July 14 would be advisable as it is the starting point for the Bastille Day parade, as would steering clear on any Sunday of the same month, allowing you to avoid the flurry of tired cyclists completing the final leg of the Tour de France. But perhaps the greatest thing about the Arch, what makes it so iconically French, is that it was commissioned by Napolean in honour of himself. And you were always told the French were arrogant.

7. Les Catacombes

It's probably a little more than just a coincidence that the junior members of your party, those who complain about walking to the car, will surprisingly ask to pick up the pace as you tour 'Les Catacombes', the underground network of Roman passageways converted to accommodate millions of corpses as Parisian cemeteries became saturated in the 17th and 18th Centuries. Les Catacombes consists of no fewer than six million skeletal beings, who will watch you every step of the way as you go. It is also the spot the French Resistance chose as their headquarters in World War II, although it probably did little to lighten the mood set by the swarms of advancing Germans. For an alternative peek into the city's history, Les Catacombes is a must see, although it may be the stuff of nightmares for those with a slightly over active imagination. Or those who find 6 million pairs of hollow eye sockets staring in their direction a little disturbing.

8. The Night Clubber Special

For those who think anywhere outside of their local is an adventurous Saturday evening, the Eurostar Night Clubber Special might not be for you. But for the rest of you eager party animals, it most definitely is. Like a modern Cinderella story without any glass slippers and set to a lot of dance music, you'll have to leave London after 4.30 pm and be back before 10.30 am the following morning, often sleepless and linguistically confused. When in Paris, try clubs such as Queen and Redlight for a more mainstream insight into the local scene, and the Sunday morning 'after party' sessions will take you right through to your train home. And at a very reasonable 35 for return tickets, booking in advance is the only way to secure your seat for this unique clubbing experience.

9. Notre Dame

If this list was to be written in any specific order of importance, then Notre Dame cathedral would feature much, much higher. Commissioned by Bishop Maurice de Sully in 1163, Notre Dame is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe today, and recent restorations mean it's looking as good as ever. Oh, and it also happens to be the religious centre of the city and home of Paris's Archbishop, hence deserves an absolute double underlining on your itinerary. The gargoyles are as leering as expected, and often even the most adamant of atheists comment on the inexplicable and eerie atmosphere of calm and hush which hits as you enter. Notre Dame may not be for the children (unless of course yours are into Gothic architecture and intense religious feelings), but must not, at any cost, be missed out on your trip. And if your kids complain, sit them in Berthillon over the road and let them loose on Paris's most famous ice cream parlour, where asking for 'chocolate flavour' is like asking for alcohol in an off license.

10. Wine tasting

Like their lingerie making and their building designing, there are things the French do better than anybody else. And fortunately for you, winemaking is one of them. There are numerous places across the city where you can learn about and more importantly sample some of the country's finest wines, straight from the vineyards of Burgundy and Champagne. Places such as O'Chateau are great for a day out with friends or even corporate events, and they usually let you take home a few bottles of what you sampled. And what's more, you will now be able to make very loud statements in your local off license about how the '72 has much more je ne sais quoi to it than the 73', only this time you'll actually understand what you're talking about.

Out of all the capital cities Tomas Jones has been to, of which there are many, Paris is up there at the very top of his list. When not dreaming about strolling along the banks of the Seine, Tomas writes prolifically for On The Beach who offer all sorts of cheap Paris city breaks with hotels in Paris and flights from airports throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.

I love addressing Americans' fears about Mexico. If Americans are not thinking of every migrant worker, illegal or legal, as a potential serial killer, drug smuggler, or terrorist, then they are imagining all manner of misfortune and dangers that just have to abound in the country of Mexico itself.

As I have discussed in a previous column, in 2003, Mexico had 13 murders for every 100,000 persons. That is for the WHOLE country! This was the same murder rate for the state of Louisiana for the same year.

You risk, by living in America, not only being done in by some serial killer (76% of the world's serial killers live in America) but you may find yourself making a trip to the local emergency room for various reasons. None of which, I am sure, you would want you mother to know about.

Americans keep statistics about everything. It is astounding at what you can find that Americans record about their own behavior. I wish it were this easy to find statistics about Mexicans. They tend NOT to record statistics of bizarre events as Americans are inclined to do.

In a little gem called The Statistical Abstract of the United States, you can read all kinds of statistics about almost anything you can imagine. Some of them are entertaining.

This work of fun facts to show and tell came to my attention via Bill Bryson, author of I'm a Stranger Here Myself , where he mentions this collection of facts. Read this man's book(s). It is hysterical! I am begging you to buy his book(s) so when he learns I stole his idea he won't sue me (buy, buy, buy).

Anyway, this statistical work has a section called Injuries Associated with Consumer Products. It shows that danger in America is not only lurking in the form of violent crime but evidently, Americans are at risk in all sorts of venues. For example, you can be at risk in your own bed.

More than 519,000 Americans have to go to their local emergency rooms yearly from injuries associated with their beds. Get this: more people injure themselves yearly from their beds than they do on trampolines (91,870 yearly from trampolines).

Are you even able to comprehend this little fact? I am powerless to do so. What can this mean? Are that many people falling out of or tripping over their beds? Perhaps their bed entry method sends them bouncing off it like a trampoline and out a window they fly. Maybe they need getting-into-bed re-education therapy. Maybe Americans are confused and think beds are a trampoline. I just do not know!

Just look at this breakdown and remember--these are people whose injuries are so severe that they have to get to an emergency room immediately:

Household containers and packaging--220,118

Tables-310,121

Televisions-47,210

Footwear-118,501

Jewelry-76,327

Now follow closely:

More Americans injure themselves yearly from their viciously snapping and snarling Tupperware containers than from a hand or power saw (a mere 98,872 injuries yearly). Tables are more dangerous to Americans than hammers (43,055 go to the ER for hammer injuries). Televisions are also problematic for Americans (imagine that!) as is jewelry.

But, what I would like to know is just how in God's name do Americans suffer 118,501 yearly injuries from their footwear? I never realized that shoes or house slippers could be that dangerous. How does this happen? If any of my readers have ever had to go to the emergency room because of their shoes, please e-mail me at guillermobower@hotmail.com. I want to hear all about it!

It may surprise you that more Americans go packing off to the hospital over Household Furnishings than from Sports and Recreation Equipment each year.

I think I am safer in Mexico than in the United States. What do you think?

Christmas Eve arrives with friends and family settling in the gift room. Shredding sounds from the gift paper fills the room followed by overjoyed shrieks of happiness. You relax in the gratification of receiving you yearly request. A chorus of voices singing joyful hymns erupts drowning the music coming from the newly unwrapped CD players and iPods.

The excitement of the sacred night winds down to satisfied, happy silence. Everyone snuggled next to the fire place. Everyone's eyes fixed on the majestic tree with the starry midnight background. Eyes gain weight with sleepiness. Guests leave as you and your partner retire to the upstairs bedroom for your second more sensual Christmas Eve.

You enter the bedroom tiptoeing over deliciously naughty toys wrapped in individual bows. You light the scented candles sitting next to the bed covered with sexy erotic lingerie. You look across the room finding your partner surrounded by exotic edible novelties. Your eyes descend from the top of the curvy body down to the marabou slippers adorning the feet. You start your visual travel with the tiara crowning the head. You notice the moon through the window, sneaking over the shoulder, glistening off the heart necklace draped across the neck. A bright red Christmas corset teasingly covers the midsection. Fishnet stockings pour over the shapely hips, thighs and calves.

Staring at this gorgeous silhouette, conjures thoughts of your perfect moment downstairs in front of the freshly cut pine tree decorated with balls and candy canes. At this moment, you realize that you have the best tree in with world right in your bedroom and you cannot wait to see what is underneath this one!

One of the joys of having children is the love, care and affection that one gets to shower on those little angels that so form the integral part of one's life. Their first words, their first steps, their first demands all of these give tremendous joy to parents. Some of the demands that come with the arrival of a child is the clothes, toys and yes the furniture for his room.

It might sound slightly unusual but is true that kids do have furniture for their bedroom and its turn comes on very early in life. As an infant there might be just a cradle in his room but as the child grows his requirements grow as well and by the time he gains teenage his requirement matches that of a fully grown adult.

As the child grows his bedroom reflects the change for now added to his list of bedroom furniture would be a bed, a small almirah where comic books, toys and cloths can be kept. And when he grows old enough to go to college his bedroom would consist of such stuff like chair, study table, cassette, CD and two-in-one cabinet, shoe case for shoes, slippers, a bed, an almirah for cloths, dressing table and cupboard for books.

Child's bedroom furniture therefore is a list that keeps growing with the passage of time and by the time the child grows into a young man the list for his bedroom furniture is a pretty long one but also an important one and something which cannot be ignored. By the description of it, it might appear that the list is pretty complicated and exhaustive but if careful thought is spared for the topic there is no reason why anyone would feel any difficulty in accumulating stuff for child's bedroom furniture.

About The Author: Brooke Theresa writes for Kidzdens that offers service to its users to find themed Childs furniture for their kid's room in the UK. She has done her Masters in Business Administration and is currently assisting Kidzdens as a marketing specialist.

Dearfoams Men's USC Slipper

Who says that only mind freaks can have photographic memory? You definitely can hear the oohs and aahs when the Mind Freak himself was able to draw for you a detailed drawing of the entire city just after a 5 min helicopter ride. It is a miracle how these people are able to remember so well. Now, imagine if you have the exact same power and ability. Wouldn't that be incredible? Just glimpse through your textbooks the hour before you sit for your exam and you will definitely score a miracle 'A'. Check out these 3 effective photographic memory techniques for you that you can use and benefit from.

Before getting started, photographic memory requires some kind of practice and technique too. So if you cannot do it after the first try, do not quit. Give yourself some time to get used to it too.

First, the link system is usually used to aid you with all sorts of memory work. This is highly useful for memorizing texts in the form of lists or chores. So, lets say if you have a long shopping list to remember, try to get all the words and try to make it into mental scenario out of it. Example, if you are given a list of things - pink, shirt, cat, slippers, ironing and flowers, make a picture out of this by thinking of CAT wearing a SHIRT printed with FLOWERS and so on. When you reach the last item, try to link it to the first. This short mental film will help you to remember effectively and quickly.

The second method is to use the peg system. The peg system is used usually to remember images in a sequence. This number-shape system will help you to remember the sequences of images accurately in a jiffy. For example, you are given pictures of a dog, cat, mouse, elephant, antelope and giraffe arranged in this sequence. To use the peg system, simply attach a number to each picture Example 1 dog, 2 cats, 3 mice, 4 elephant et cetera. At the same time, use your mental scenario to make the peg system work. Remember to link the animals to each other, by using the same technique as mentioned in the link system.

The last technique would involve the use of the ever-famous mind mapping. Back in the school days, the mind mapping technique is a very popular and highly encouraged technique. However, over time, people choose to chuck this technique away simply because they are finding it harder to use. Well, this of course depends on the kind of area you are planning to use the mind mapping technique for. To use the mind mapping technique effectively, simply take the key central image of the concept and branch out information that is related. It might get messier as you go by, but it is an excellent tool for organizing a busy timetable or storing large quantities of information.

Developing photographic memory is not at all that tough. If you are not born with this gift, then get sneaky and try out these tricks and apply them. Your friends will be shocked by your tremendous improvement in your memory work.

Dearfoams Women's Sueded Microfiber Bootie

This Dearfoams bootie is so cushy, you'll want to buy it for yourself, then give a few as gifts. It features a sueded fabric upper and laced trim that gathers into a tassel on top. Foam cushioning supplies serious warmth and coziness, ensuring that this will be the slipper you'll wear most often.
Customer Review: Perfect indoor/outdoor slippers
I work at home and I have two dogs, so these are perfect. They're comfortable, warm, and I don't have to put real shoes on to go out in the yard with the dogs. The soles are thick rubber and they keep my feet from getting wet or cold. I got them a little big (normally I wear a 7 and I ordered an 8) so I could wear them with socks, but since they stretched out pretty easily I could've kept my original size -- so do keep that in mind when you're ordering.

Factors to Consider When Buying a Vintage Prom Dress

A vintage prom dress is one that is a dress from the 1940, 1950 or 1960. The styles from these decades are very popular in formal gowns and help you create a really unique look for your prom night. There are some locations in the larger cities where you will be able to find such a gown, such as at thrift stores and stores that sell second-hand clothing. If the term second-hand clothing turns you off, then you want to buy a new prom dress, not a vintage one. Because the vintage dresses are from an earlier time, the only way you can buy one is by buying one that has been previously used. However there are many locations that have new dresses in the same designs.

Look through old pictures to find out what styles are available in this type of prom dress. You will find many different vintage styles to choose from when you shop online. There is one thing that you must keep in mind and that is the difference in sizing. The sizes of today are not the same as they were 50 years ago. A size 12 dress from back in the 1960 is probably a size 6 or 8 in today sizes. This is why you cannot look at the sizing tags to help you find the right vintage dress. Back in those days many women wore corsets to flatten their tummies so that they could fit into the dress and crinolines were very popular with some styles. These are other factors that you have to take into consideration when you are buying.

To start shopping for the perfect vintage dress, you have to take your body measurements. When you go to the store selling such dresses, bring the tape with you and measure the waist line of the dress. Once you find one that does fit your measurements, you still have to try it on to make sure it does fit. You still may need to have alterations done to the dress to get a proper fit for you.

If you are looking for something more natural, try going back farther in time for dress styles. In the 1920 corsets and girdles were not in fashion so these dresses may fit you better. You will have to start your search early though because these dresses are hard to find. The dresses from the 1940 and 1950 were fitted in the bodice and waist line areas of the dress. The skirts were usually full so that if you have full hips, this would be the style that would suit your figure. Since bullet bras were in style during these decades, you may find that the bust of the dress is way too big for you even if the waist line is the right size. A good seamstress can easily make changes to this so that it fits you just right.

The length of the dress is also important. During the 1960 shorter dresses were the style, but there are some floor length ball gowns from that era that was made with stretchy fabric that will enhance your perfect figure. If you are looking for something a little later, such as in the 1970 and 1980, these are easier to find. You may even find something in your mother or grandmother closet that will look perfect on you and save you money in the process.

Happiness - the Chase Goes On

Some people claim to know what happiness is. No one seems to know where or how to find happiness. But can happiness really be found and kept?

Born and raised in Liberia, we spend part of our childhood dreaming about leaving Liberia, crossing the vast Atlantic Ocean, landing on the heaven-on-earth terrain known as America. My junior high friend, Robert Saydee and I would lay on the bunk beds of our dorm room in a boarding school and verbally dream of the day when both of us would migrate to the great, rich United States, the land of the missionary, peace corps, CIA agent, tourist, Hollywood star, cars, planes, and black American athletes. So we dreamed until Saydee and I were separated by the need to continue our educational journeys in different locations. Our American dream lingered.

Well, it was not exactly the journey to America we would have scripted, but my lifelong friend and I are in the United States now. It was the brutal Liberian civil war that uprooted us and catapulted us to this sweet land of liberty, which has proved to be so much more than our boyish minds had imagined. Give or take a few surprises.

Liberians who still live in what is perhaps now the world's poorest country will not believe me when I say it, but it is true: there is no happiness in America, just as there is no happiness in Liberia. Life in America means a lot of things, but permanent happiness is not one of them.

What does it really mean to live in America? Find it in those words in nation's Declaration of Independence: it is the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". In the United States, what you are given is the right to live, to be free, and to pursue happiness. You are not granted, guaranteed or given happiness. No, it's not happiness but the pursuit of it. That's what America offers.

The "pursuit" is the key to life in America. As for the happiness part, give it up, you will never catch it here. Unless you have figured out the mental trick of finding happiness in the pursuit itself, you will be a wind chaser all the days of your life in America. Can you catch the wind and hold it in your hand? Neither can you grab happiness, hold it, and take it with you into your American home.

Happiness has little to do with geography. It is not about location, or relocation. Moving from here to there will not make you happy any more than changing from flip flops or slippers to shoes. Happiness is not some place or some thing.

Happiness is a pursuit, not a catch. So, let the pursuit begin, or let it continue. Remember, they call it "the American dream". It's a "dream", not a reality.

Bathroom Lighting and Home Spas

Bathroom Lighting
When choosing the type and location of lighting, think about the layout of your bathroom. There might be a certain place you want to accent or you may want extra brightness around mirrors. You should also consider lighting that can be switched from dim to bright, so you can match your mood when getting ready for work or taking a relaxing bath. Although unique and extravagant lighting may be right for you, these lighting options tend to overpower smaller bathrooms.

Home Spas
Bathrooms have evolved from a simple room with a toilet, shower, sink and mirror to elaborate home spas. You no longer need to step outside your home to find a relaxing and soothing atmosphere to ease your daily stress. Home spas are not only for the wealthy; today's technology gives you tons of affordable options to transform your bathroom into the spa of your dreams.

Here are some tips on creating your own home spa at an affordable price:

  • Use simple and soothing patterns and colors that you find relaxing in your bathroom.
  • Use aromatherapy candles. They make for relaxed lighting and exude a desirable scent.
  • Use thick, cotton towels or robes and slippers for a spa-like feeling.
  • Incorporate nature themes into your bathroom, such as plants or shapes of tropical fish or flowers.
  • Place a small CD player in your bathroom and keep relaxing music on hand.
  • Add furniture, such as a comfortable chair, to your bathroom.
  • Place multiple shower heads that can be adjusted in your shower or jets in your bathtub.
  • Add steam to your shower to promote relaxation.
  • Install heated tile in your flooring. It will keep your feet warm and cozy and make your wet floor dry faster to make it less slippery.
  • If you find television programming relaxing, add a TV screen to your bathroom.
  • Choose lighting that can be dimmed to give your bathroom a peaceful atmosphere.

Given that a new bathroom is a major investment, take your time choosing colors, finishes and features - and remember to have fun. Work closely with your professional contractor and don't hesitate to ask for help and creative ideas - this will bring you one step closer to the bathroom of your dreams.

Dearfoams Men's U Of Notre Dame Slipper

The transition to business wear can be pretty tricky sometimes. You want to WOW your co-workers without going overboard.

It is important to remember that not all casual clothing is appropriate for business wear.

In order to do this effectively, the sophisticated woman needs a few basic business wear essentials.

First, youll need simple flat-front pair of black pants. Black dress pants are versatile and can be dressed up or down as needed. An additional pair of khaki pants is also advisable.

How about a straight skirt hanging just below the knees? These skirts are flattering and can be worn with a multitude of tops. Casual skirts that are split at or below the knee are acceptable in most businesses. Never wear a mini-skirt to the office.

Youll need a sleeveless, fitted solid colored dress that can be worn with a cardigan.

Brightly colored fine knit sweaters can be worn with either pants or a skirt.

A black cardigan is chic and easy to wear.

A sexy shell in a neutral color looks fabulous under a jacket.

A crisp white shirt always looks smart.

A classic gray or black coat is also needed.

Black pumps with an elegant heel can compliment just about any outfit. Flip-flops, slippers and flashy athletic shoes are not acceptable in the office.

A simple black bag (to match the black pumps) also compliments most outfits.

Remember that clothing that reveals too much cleavage, back, chest, feet, any of your stomach or underwear is not appropriate for the work place.

All clothing should be pressed and clean. No torn, dirty or frayed clothing is acceptable. The only picture or words that are acceptable on attire is the company logo.

On dress down days, it is a good idea to keep it conservative. Wear nice jeans with a solid top and heels. Never wear anything which can be potentially offensive to others.

There are many fabulous combinations you can create with the few basic pieces. Use your imagination and your co-workers will be so impressed theyll start asking you for style advice!

Bridget Allen has worked for many years in the fashion industry, at a senior level, and she has written an amazing, totally free fashionista minicourse that will thrill, entertain, and most importantly educate you about what you absolutely need to know about fashion.

It has happened for years, new cigars offering great taste and an alluring flavor always finds its way into the fingers of connoisseurs everywhere.

Trilogy cigars are made with wrappers from Cameroon, Nicaraguan, Brazilian, or Honduran and the fillers are Nicaragua, Columbia, Italian, Jalapa Valley or Condega Nicaragua with a binder from Havana, Indonesia, Honduras, or African Cameroon. This means the cigars will have the same quality materials to make a fine tasting cigar.

Trilogy cigars offer a neatly blended filler mixture, which gives you a mild to medium taste. With the three unique wrappers of Corojo, Cameroon and exotic maduro, Trilogy cigars offer a fine taste in a cheaper cigar.

Two different kinds of Trilogy cigars are:

Trilogy Native Cameroon Churchill- this cigar costs only $80 and has a mild to medium taste without losing that rich flavor. The filler is a mixture while the binder comes from Havana Seed Honduran and the wrap is African Cameroon leaf.

Trilogy Native Cameroon Robusto- this cigar costs $68 and offers a mild to medium flavor of complexity. The only thing different from the Trilogy Native Cameroon Churchill is the mixture of the filler.

Try Trilogy cigars for a rich and great tasting cigar. You might want to look at www.cigarsforless.com for a great tasting cigar. Nobody does a fine cigar any better than Trilogy. Look no farther for that perfect cigar. Try a Trilogy today for a rich and enjoying taste.

Dearfoams Men's University of Florida Slipper

Bose noise canceling headphones have comfortably slid into first place in the music accessory market. However this could be a down fall for the average consumer. Today people arent taking the time to research what the best product for them, instead bold new advertisements are making the decision for us.

In spite of this, dutifully, Ive decided to go on the hunt for the best product in the latest craze to hit sound technology, (noise canceling headphones) and report back to the consumer. Fast on the rise of noise canceling headphones in the Sony MDR NC11, with its distinctive ear buds, this earphone doesnt just have the thumbs up in the quality of sound department but also the noise canceling feature. Small yet durable these little ear buds maybe misleading by their size but its noise canceling feature is defiantly a strong contender in this fast going market.

With the Sonys unique design, the MDR-NC11 stretches one step beyond the rest, by using a high-quality performance low-tech technique; rubber plugs. The earphones work like earplugs in a two step system by ceiling off background noise and canceling noise as theyre in use.

The idea of Sonys noise canceling earphones, on the other hand, is based on microphones that listen to the noise waves around you, along with built in circuitry built in, create sound that is the opposite of the whats going on around you. The principle is explained at http://www.cancellingnoise.com as, when a wave of sound goes up around you, the wave of sound in the earphone goes down, thus giving you almost silence.

The Sony headphones listen to the noise going on around you, and using circuitry built into the device to create sound that is the opposite of what's going on around you. So, as the wave of sound goes up around you, the wave of the sound in the headphone goes down, giving you virtual silence.

Sonys new headphone line has really outdone the rest in creating a new approach to earphones themselves, by taking on a sleek and stream line design. Voted a 7.8 out of 10 by CNET editor Steve Guttenberg this new product will give Bose a run for their money.

Dearfoams Men's U Of Notre Dame Clog

This slipper from Dearfoams is perfect for kicking back on Sundays while you watch the game. The suede upper is lined with warm, fleecy fabric, while the outsole is substantial enough for minor outside use. Notre Dame fans will appreciate the embroidered vamp.

The product that is proud to provide a lifetime motor warranty is the Sole treadmill. This even includes lifetime deck and frame warranty which only proves that the company or the manufacturer is very serious in providing high quality of product to the buyers.

Even if a Sole treadmill is foldable but its distinct double horseshoe folding frame would assure the user that it does not affect the stability of the machine. You can highly trust it for its stability and high-grade performance.

This also boasts its CushionFlex cushioning. This feature is supported by university studies claiming that this kind of cushion is much better than any other type as it could reduce impact on one's joints.

It is already an established name in this given field. This would be an enough assurance for the buyers to trust and be confident about the product. But a Sole treadmill does not just stop from there. Every now and then it continues to look for innovations that would further improve the quality and performance of a Sole treadmill. Treadmill reviews would show how so many people have learned to appreciate and value it over other competing brands. It was even noticed that they often run out of stock and that it would need to add its production number to meet the supply demand of the market.

One of the biggest proofs that a Sole treadmill is most preferred by customers is the fact that it has been used for room service in the line of Hilton Hotels. It is tagged as the best buy for the $1,000 to $2,000 price range especially the Sole F80 and Sole F85 models. Thus, one need no doubt on the name of it as this has already been a household name in the field of fitness.

Dearfoams Men's University of Georgia Clog

Bedrooms are where we escape to for sleeping and relaxing, but sometimes, they can become storage rooms when we dont know where to put things. Clothes pile up on furniture and it becomes difficult to find what we are looking for.

Here are some creative ideas to make the most of the space you have.

Closets:

Maximize closet space by installing a closet organizing system. A custom designed closet can add so much storage space, but can be expensive. Less costly options are available at many department stores, such as Target. Mix and Match closet storage units are sold separately and reasonably priced. Take stock of what you need to store and decide which pieces you will need to purchase.

Use clear storage boxes to store childrens clothing according to size and age. Store it in the closet for future use or to prepare to donate or sell. They can easily be stacked and keep the clothing dust free and protected. In these boxes, they can even be stored in the basement if closet space is limited and they wont be ruined by dampness.

Use a hamper in the closet to collect clothing as children grow out of it, when its full, pack it up into a storage box.

Under the Bed:

Another option, flat plastic storage boxes made especially for under the bed are perfect for seasonal clothing when not in use or other things you dont need often, but cant bring yourself to toss. Vacuum-packed storage bags are also easily stored under a bed.

Hanging:

Hang hooks in the closet for robes and pjs for quick and easy access. A wall mounted tie rack makes grabbing a tie in the morning a breeze. Hang your purses as well. Use a hanging show rack on the back of the closet door for shoes, or slippers or other items, belts, socks, anything small you dont have to have to search for.

Shelves:

Keep clutter to a minimum by hanging whatever you can, including shelves. Wall mounted shelves for accessories keep clutter off your dressers.

Take a day to organize your bedroom storage and youll create a more serene space. Everything will be easily accessible and more apt to stay organized.

Dearfoams Women's Quilted Microfiber One Band Slipper

Treat your feet to these microterry scuff slippers. The cushioned footbed, allover terry cloth, and satin trim make this slipper so comfortable you won't want ot take them off. The indoor/oudoor sole is white with a scuff free bottom.
Customer Review: I love it!!
The Slippers are really comfortable to wear. The design is really great and I love the color!!
Customer Review: Dearfoam's
I use to love Dearfoam slippers, but now they sew the tag in such a way that you can't remove one side of the tag. I'm a sewer, so I use seam rippers, but still can't get the whole tag out. The tags are made with a really stiff, itchy ribbon type of material and I actually get blisters from them. I just can't wear their slippers any longer. One lady wrote that these are quite stiff and not as comfortable as the older style and I agree with that too. It's a shame that they've become for concerned with people removing their tags than the comfort of their customers.

If you enjoy the softness of a traditional, coil-spring mattress, but also need the back support of a good solid carpeted floor, then a memory foam mattress provides the perfect middle ground. A memory foam mattress contains most of the cushioning and body forming capabilities of a regular mattress, with all the back support of a floor perhaps even better than a floor, since memory foam obeys the contours of your spine.

Its tendency to soften with warmth and harden with coolness regulates how much support your body gets and where. Youll feel the greatest difference at the more jutting parts of your body, such as ankles, knees, hips, ribs, shoulders, elbows, finding less aches and pains in the morning. Youll find that there wont be as much morning numbness - your limbs will wake up when you do, as your overall circulation will be improved.

Youll sleep better. Youll live better.

But before you go smashing your piggy bank to spend everything on the first memory foam mattress you see, realize that not all memory foam mattresses are the same: they vary in density, thickness, and overall quality. Densities range from 2.5 pounds per cubic foot to 5 pounds per cubic foot in most cases, and as high as 5.3 or more for some of the premium brands. Denser mattresses tend to be more expensive because more raw material goes into them, and because fabricating them requires a finer science.

Denser mattresses are firmer and respond better to those who are thinner with more protruding bone structures, while mattresses that are less dense are softer and tend to do a better job at cradling curvier forms. If you do not tend to move around much while falling asleep, a denser mattress is ideal. For those who toss and turn a bit, a less dense mattress is the better choice. Do keep in mind that your tossing and turning may not actually be your natural way of sleeping, but rather a result of inadequate bedding. A middle-density memory foam mattress about 4 pounds can accommodate a range of sleepers. Low-density memory foam mattresses (2.5-3.5 pounds per cubic foot) can sometimes bottom out and usually arent worth the lower price.

As memory foam mattresses have gained in popularity, more luxurious (meaning thicker) beds have become more common. Your basic memory foam mattress uses a 5 base layer with a couple inches of foam at the top for any size, be it twin, twin-long, full-size, queen, king, or California king. More luxurious mattresses have a 6 base with an extra inch or two of top padding, for a more responsive feel, and these mattresses are the most popular memory foam beds. The top-of-the-line models also have a 6 base, but include extra top layering, for maximum responsiveness.

If youre looking to save money, finding a good discount memory foam mattress can be a difficult proposition. For a quality product, Consumer Reports recommends you spend at least $450 for a twin bed, $600 for a full-size bed, $800 for a queen, $1000 for a king, and about $1200 for a California king.

Major manufacturers tightly regulate retail pricing on their products. However, if you go through a smaller dealer or retailer, either at a brick-and-mortar location or online, you might be able to get the salesperson to throw in a free memory foam pillow, free shipping, or some other additional value to seal the deal.

Otherwise, if you are looking to save money on a memory foam mattress, try a manufacturer that makes lower-density mattresses. The quality will be lower than a denser mattress, but it might well be an improvement over the rusty bedsprings to which youve subjected yourself in the past.

Certainly a class on its own, an embodiment of style and fashion, and terribly expensive. These are probably the most appropriate phrases to use when describing those expensive designer shoes that, every so often, come out of the fashion world.

Women, generally, seem to be more attracted to shoes and are more likely to buy a pair than men. According to retail and consumer expert, The NPD Group, women in the United States spent about $17 billion on fashion footwear between October 2004 and October 2005, a clear 10% increase from the previous year's record.

Base on the same study, it was found out that handbags and footwear have completely replaced clothes as women's choice to showcase their personal taste, status, wealth and style.

Truth, when items are expensive chances are manufacturers used the highest quality materials possible which makes them more durable and would definitely last longer than the cheaper ones. However, there are times that the high price of a shoe is due to some uncommon, unconventional or unique material integrated into the shoe's design, like the $2 million stiletto sandals created by known designer Stuart Weitzman.

The pair of shoes has a total of 55 carats of clear diamonds and one big 5-carat stone decorated into the straps of the shoes. Another pair that Weitzman designed was a pair of ruby stiletto sandals inspired by the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. The pair was made by weaving platinum threads and inserting 642 rubies on the straps. The pair amounted to a cool $1.6 million, definitely not something that you could wear everyday. Really, sometimes the price of these designer shoes are already bordering on the absurd.

Years before, a $200 pair of shoes were considered as already expensive and for the high and mighty. Nowadays, prices for a more "practical" and "normal" pair of expensive designer shoes usually range from $500 to $15,000 depending on the materials used.

Italian leather is considered as the best leather in the world for making shoes and would certainly mark up the selling price of any pair of shoes by a considerable amount. Women shoes that are made from pure Italian leather and fashioned by highly skilled Italian craftsmen can easily fetch a price of more than $1000. Usually, shoes made from exotic skins like crocodile, alligator, snake and ostrich skins are the most expensive pairs that you'll find in boutiques, malls and shoe shops.

Dearfoams Women's SM178 (2 Pairs) Slippers

It's all in the details, with the bow and piping adding a bit of splash to these spa slippers. Adjustable hook and loop closure for adjustable fit. Microfiber terry lining will keep feet warm and cozy.

If you were to disregard all of the file folders, books and scribbled Post-It notes, one of the first things you'd notice about my office is my fondness for The Wizard of Oz. Along the walls and bookshelves are postcards of Dorothy and The Wicked Witch, a stuffed Scarecrow and a Cowardly Lion hand puppet. There's also an 18-inch rainbow on my desk. It's really a candleholder, a simple black ornamental bridge with small glass votives of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. To me it is a symbol of hope and inspiration, a reminder of how color became my muse.

The road to rainbows

Like many writers, there was a time when my words did not flow, flow, flow onto the paper, a time when I would have welcomed a pair of ruby slippers just so I could click myself three times out of the Writers Block Woods and into the Creative Light. Then one day I walked into a metaphysical shop and found my muse. There along one large, sunny window were over 100 square glass bottles, each containing two different-colored layers of liquid. They mesmerized me with their gem-like brilliance.

This was my introduction to Aura-Soma, an holistic therapy which uses the healing energies of colors, plants and crystals. Instinctively, I reached for "Gabriel", the blue-over-violet bottle. By applying the oily contents to my throat and temple, my communication abilities would be greatly improved, it was explained. What's this--a writer's miracle in a bottle? Intrigued, I brought "Gabriel" home and after only a few applications, I found myself enjoying what I can only describe as a creative high.

An ancient method

Now that I have spent many years researching the benefits of color, I'm not surprised "Gabriel" worked so well. "Color is a powerful tool," author Lori Reid wrote in ther book, Color Book: Use the healing powers of color to transform your life. "It acts on our bodies, minds, and emotions, triggering deep and subtle responses on a subconscious level."

Within each of us are spinning wheels of energy called chakras which correspond to a specific color of the spectrum, as well as an emotional issue. Red (root chakra, located at the base of the spine) is used for energy, grounding and passion. Orange (sacral chakra, located two inches below the navel) promotes joy and sexuality. Yellow (solar plexus chakra, located below the breastbone) helps counteract depression and stimulates mental activity. Green (heart chakra, located at the center of the chest) represents compassion and healing. Blue (throat chakra, located at the throat) deals with peace, communication and artistic expression. Indigo (brow chakra, located at the third eye area, between the brows) activates intuition. Violet (crown chakra, located at the crown of the head) represents spirituality and inspiration.

Since ancient times, color has been used in physical, mental and emotional healing. It is said that Hippocrates applied his medicine in rooms painted in soothing colors and used different colored salves and ointments as treatment. In ancient Egypt, China and India, individuals were dipped in colored pigment or bathed in light that was filtered through colored-glass windows. Today color is introduced by using crystals and visualization, wearing a particular color clothing to absorb color physically, applying colored lights or oils to the skin, eating colored foods and drinking colored water. One can also receive different color vibrations through music.

Color your world

How would you describe green to your readers? Before you write, visualize your setting and try to see, feel and smell the green. Say you are writing a short story about a young girl living in an old country cottage in Ireland. Is the color of the grass and trees an emerald or Kelly green? Does the grass feel dry or wet? How do you convey the smell of the countryside? Is green an earthy, clean smell? Is it sweet and slightly minty or antiseptic-smelling like pine?

"Becoming aware of the effects of color means that we can make use of its positive benefits to lift our spirits, to unlock our creative imagination, to enhance our environment and to improve our image, our well-being, and our lives," says Reid.

Did you know that if you write on a yellow note pad with blue ink, you can enhance both your communication and creative skills? Think about what you wish to communicate to your readers. Is it anger? Joy or pain?

Once you understand the excessive and deficient qualities associated with each color, you can write stories with more interesting, more believable characters. In her book, Color and Crystals: A Journey Through The Chakras, author Joy Gardner provides an excellent example of someone who has too much red energy:

"This wealthy perfectionist is the owner of a California restaurant chain. He rules his employees like a commanding general. He is nervous and chronically constipated. He owns three cars, which give him little satisfaction. He sleeps with many women, but it's an empty experience."

Gardner describes the rainbow colors and their related excessive energies as Red--greedy, egotistic, domineering, sexually indiscriminate; Orange--emotionally explosive, aggressive, manipulative, over-indulgent; Yellow--judgmental, workaholic, perfectionist, overly intellectual; Green--demanding, possessive, moody, melodramatic; Blue--arrogant, self-righteous, dogmatic, addictive; Indigo--egomaniac, proud, religiously dogmatic, authoritarian and Violet--psychotic, depressed, destructive.

An outstanding example of a red personality is the aptly named Scarlett O'Hara, the fiery heroine from "Gone With The Wind". Talk about attention-getters! Scarlett was stubborn and temperamental, a woman who demanded everything the world had to offer. Nothing could stop her from achieving her goals, not death and destruction nor the scorn and wagging tongues of the local citizens. If she had to steal her sister's beau, murder a Yankee or toil in the fields, well, so be it. She would not be defeated.

In the end, Scarlett had amassed great wealth and had rebuilt her beloved Tara, but she had suffered great losses as well. Her daughter was dead and her husband, Rhett Butler, clearly didn't give a damn and was heading out the door. But we just know that Scarlett got Rhett in the end. Why? Because she never, ever quit. She knew what she wanted and she would fight the devil himself to ensure that she got it. Scarlett O'Hara was the ultimate survivor. Surely, if she had had a personal mantra, it would have been: "It's all about me!"

A writer's meditation

Sit or lie in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on a beautiful white sandy beach. The sun is directly overhead and its rays are brilliant and warm as they flow from the top of your head and throughout your body.

Let your toes feel the cool, Caribbean blue waters. See yourself staring out to sea, mesmerized by the dancing rhythm of the waves. Watch the seagulls fly above you, then see them dive into the sparkling water. You feel at peace here. After awhile, you notice a huge wave coming toward you but you are not afraid. The water comes close to your hand and when the wave is gone, you see it has left you a wondrous gift.

Glowing like jewels on the sand are seven different colors of seaglass. You pick up the red seaglass first and hold it in the palm of your hand. Stare into the seaglass and imagine you are becoming smaller and smaller until you are surrounded by the red seaglass. Feel the warmth and energy of the color red. Red is the first color of the rainbow. It is the color of passion and enthusiasm and survival. Red helps you obtain your material needs.

Now pick up the orange-colored seaglass. Orange is the second color of the rainbow. Look into the seaglass and become the color orange. Orange is a joyful color. With orange, you feel happy about your decision to become a writer and you will not allow anyone or anything to dampen your enthusiasm.

Now pick up the yellow-colored seaglass and feel the power of yellow surround you. Yellow is the third color of the rainbow. Yellow gives you better confidence in your writing abilities, no matter how many rejection slips or criticisms you receive.

Place the green-colored seaglass into your hand. Green is the fourth color of the rainbow. It is the color of harmony and balance and peace. When you are hurrying to meet deadlines for books and articles, visualize the color green and your balance will be restored.

Pick up the blue-colored seaglass and become the color blue. Blue is the fifth color of the rainbow and offers you creativity and communication. Blue helps you perceive the truth and to conquer writer's block.

Now pick up the indigo-colored seaglass. This is the sixth color of the rainbow. Indigo is the color of intuition, your inner voice that tells you to "go for it". You need to trust your intuition if you are to realize your potential and become a successful writer.

Now there is only one seaglass left to explore, the violet-colored one. Violet is the seventh color of the rainbow. It is the color of faith. No matter how difficult your life may get, faith never lets you give up on yourself. In your journey as a writer, remember the color violet and your abilities and opportunities will improve.

Now slowly open your eyes and when you are ready, take your favorite colored pen or pencil in hand and write a page in your personal color journal, knowing that the power of the seven colors of the rainbow has made you into a better and more creative writer.

Are you ready to do some rainbow writing? Try these exercises now:

1. Write about a red place, object or character. OR write a cover letter to an agent, describing why he/she should take you on as a client. What are your accomplishments? Why are you certain your book or article will sell?

2. Write about an orange place, object or character. OR write about the first time you knew you really wanted to become a writer. Then write how you felt when you received your first criticism or rejection letter. Were you angry? Sad? Suicidal? How did you resolve the situation?

3. Write about a yellow place, object or character. OR write a movie synopsis of your life. Is it a poignant drama, comedy or psychological thriller? Which actor portrays you? Would you give your life story a General, PG-13 or R rating?

4. Write about a green place, object or character. OR write a poem about a time when you really loved something or someone. How did you express your love? Was it returned or rejected?

5. Write about a blue place, object or character. OR interview yourself as if you are already a successful writer. What suggestions would you give to a beginning writer? How have you managed to keep your name at the top of the bestseller lists? How do you avoid writer's block? Do you network with other writers?

6. Write about an indigo place, object or character. OR write a dialogue in which a small child is describing your present surroundings to an older blind person.

7. Write about a violet place, object or character. OR in first person, create a Cinderella-like fairytale where your greatest desire is to attend the most famous writers conference in the country. What are your adversities? How do you eventually get to the conference? Describe the general layout of the conference. Whom do you meet there? What questions do you ask your favorite author? What lessons do you learn? (Begin your story with "Once upon a time I was...")

Creating a personal color journal

Once I was angry with a person whom I felt had treated me unfairly. Since I was already "seeing red", I instinctively reached for a red pen and began to write passionately, wildly, about the injustice of it all. Had I been trying to "chill", I would have grabbed my "cool blue" pen instead. But in this situation I needed to express my anger--to really feel the emotional power of it--and that is why I chose to "be" red for that journaling session.

As you might expect from someone with an Oz collection, one of my major philosophies in life is to have fun, so I suggest the more colorful you can make your journal, the better. Choose either a large spiral notebook in your favorite color or seven different notebooks to reflect each hue of the rainbow and its corresponding emotion. If you are feeling depressed on the day of your journal entry, you need to add more red, so you will write this entry in red because red is the antidote to blue.

To get you started, here are nine colorful journaling prompts:

1. On the top of each page, write and complete this sentence: "The color I feel today is _______________________ because..."

2. Describe how you generally feel about the color red (or orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo or violet) and why.

3. Using the color red, complete this affirmation: "Today I have..."

4. Using the color orange, complete this affirmation: "Today I feel..."

5. Using the color yellow, complete this affirmation: "Today I can..."

6. Using the color green, complete this affirmation: "Today I love..."

7. Using the color blue, complete this affirmation: "Today I speak..."

8. Using the color indigo, complete this affirmation: "Today I see..."

9. Using the color violet, complete this affirmation: "Today I know..."

Dive write in, the aura's fine

Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue. Indigo. Violet. These seven colors are powerful tools for writers. So if you've lost your muse somewhere along the yellow brick road and don't have a pair of ruby slippers to find it, look to the rainbow and you'll discover that writing is an even greater adventure when it's not all black and white.
